As a safety professional one of the most difficult tasks you may encounter is a ignorant work force. Now that statement may ruffle some feathers but there simple no other way that more accuratly describe certain individuals. No matter how many times you explain the perils of the job, no matter how many tool box talks you have, no matter how many times you make your rounds in the field there will always be workers who will not consistantly wear the proper PPE and will not work safely. Unfortunately the day will come when someone will get hurt on one of your sites. You must not blame yourself. If you know in your heart that you were diligent in your duties it is not in your control the actions of ignorant people. Take solace in the worker who approaches you and thanks you for helping to save their eye because of the safety glasses they were wearing because they remember you constantly warning them of the dangers of the job.
